THE 2016 GRANT IN MEMORY OF ANNA DAHLBÄCK

Anders Kompass

Anders Kompass has been awarded the Grant in Memory of Anna Dahlbäck 2016. 

 

Anders Kompass has worked for human rights all his adult life and has been employed at the United Nations since 1992. The former UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld served as a model for Anders Kompass in his diplomatic career and both have a high integrity. Anders Kompass is conferred the Grant in Memory of Anna Dahlbäck because of his exceptional skill in complicated diplomacy and his outstanding moral courage to stand up for his beliefs, both in peace negotiations in El Salvador, Colombia and Guatemala and – not least – in connection with his efforts to break the culture of silence which characterizes parts of the organisation of United Nations.
