THE 2024 GRANT IN MEMORY OF ANNA DAHLBÄCK
Hoira Mosadiq
The Foundation of Anna Dahlbäck’s Memorial Fund has the honour of awarding the grant of SEK 50,000 for year 2025 to Hoira Mosadiq.

The motivation for the 2025 grant is:
Wars and conflicts shape the global situation and demand our attention. This can mean that a region or an issue is overshadowed by others. One such example is the inhumane situation in Afghanistan, which we wish to highlight without forgetting the suffering that people endure elsewhere.
The Afghan journalist and human rights activist Horia Mosadiq has worked for many years to uphold fundamental democratic values in her homeland. She defends human rights in an increasingly isolating and oppressive environment, continuously providing us with insights and analyses of the current situation. She has also founded several organizations (Conflict Analysis Network (CAN) and Safety and Risk Mitigation Organization) that shed light on issues related to violent radicalization and extremism while also addressing the urgent but often overlooked question of how to protect human rights activists working in the field.
The selection of Horia Mosadiq aligns with the foundation’s statutory criteria: to make "efforts in the spirit of Anna Dahlbäck" and, in doing so, to demonstrate "significant commitment and civil courage" in standing up for freedom of opinion and expression.
